MiCiM Italia Staff Spotlight
The MiCiM Italia team is based in Milan and currently working on data centre construction projects in the local region. Recently we spoke to some members of the Italia team and they gave us an insight into what they have been working on in recent months, and what they particularly enjoy about their roles.
Nora Elsayed – Senior Project Manager
“Recently, I’ve been representing the client on a construction project from early design through to handover. My focus has been on coordinating the design team, managing approvals and stakeholder expectations, and ensuring the project aligns with the client’s objectives. As the project is progressed into construction, I’ve been closely involved in overseeing delivery, managing risks and change, and maintaining quality and compliance. I’ll be also supporting the final stages, including inspections, documentation, and handover, to ensure a smooth transition into operations and long-term value for the client.
I find greatest satisfaction in leading projects from planning through completion, and I thrive on turning plans into tangible structures that deliver long-term value. I also enjoy the daily problem-solving that comes with coordinating multidisciplinary teams, adapting to site conditions, and ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget. I take pride in delivering results, building positive working relationships, and approaching challenges with a proactive and solution-focused mindset.”
Ahmad El Kaderi – Planner
“Planning is a key role in data centre construction. It represents both the mirror of the project’s current status and a forecast of its future. My responsibilities include gathering information from multiple stakeholders, coordinating across disciplines, and maintaining a clear understanding of the interfaces between civil works, architectural, structural, and MEP activities. I closely monitor progress, identify risks and opportunities, and ensure that potential issues are raised early so corrective actions can be taken when needed.
Working at MiCiM has been a strong driver of my professional growth. The exposure to complex, large-scale data center projects, combined with MiCiM’s structured approach to planning, collaboration, and programme governance, has significantly strengthened my technical skills, strategic thinking, and understanding of multi-discipline interfaces. My data centre experience is growing continuously through supporting clients on projects in Italy and beyond.
I really enjoy my role and am always looking to further develop my expertise. I am looking forward to contributing to the successful delivery of more data center projects through accurate planning, clear coordination, and proactive risk management.”
Jonas Karpavičius – Senior MEP Manager
“Initially I worked as an MEP Manager on the project, but recently, to better support the client, I successfully transitioned into the CX CoE (Commissioning Center of Excellence) role. This transition came with increased responsibility, including driving the commissioning strategy and its execution. Through process optimization and closer coordination with stakeholders, we were able to advance the project to a point ahead of schedule, while also reducing overall costs.
What I enjoy most about my role is the ability to identify opportunities for schedule and cost optimization, align the wider team around those solutions, and take full ownership of their implementation. For me, seeing tangible improvements as a result of collaborative problem-solving is particularly rewarding.”
Eleonora Colella – HSE Manager
“As the site HSE (health, safety & environment) manager, I work with the project’s general contractor, project partners, and the client, overseeing safety management, audits, procedures, and compliance. I ensure that all HSE activities meet the client’s expectations and foster collaboration across OFCI vendors, the clerk of works, and other stakeholders.
Over the past six months, I have focused on strengthening a shared safety culture in a complex international environment and coordinating HSE activities. Key challenges have included integrating diverse safety cultures, implementing safety practices with the general contractor (GC), and managing critical activities such as commissioning, as well as unforeseen tasks which required in-depth studies of safety plans with the GC.
I have had some fantastic feedback from site supervisors and team leads, who have further developed their awareness of HSE procedures and objectives. Procedures that were sometimes initially perceived as bureaucracy are now recognized as essential and effective tools to keep their teams safe.
What I enjoy about my role is improving my knowledge alongside highly skilled professionals in technical areas which flow into HSE topics. I value engaging with diverse stakeholders, mediating with international partners, and building meaningful relationships with all project participants — from site operatives to managers — to create a safer and more collaborative work environment.”
